The Kenaitze Indian Tribe’s Tułen Charter School application has received final approval from the State Board of Education and Early Development. The Tribe and the school’s Academic Policy Committee are moving forward with hiring a principal and conducting an enrollment lottery.
Tułen Charter School is a public charter school and part of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. The school will open this fall with classes for students in kindergarten through third grade.
Dena’ina language, culture and traditional values will be integrated into the curriculum.
A completed pre-enrollment form is required for a child to be eligible for the Tułen Charter School enrollment lottery. To access the form, go to https://bit.ly/TCSPreEnrollment. Pre-enrollment forms must be completed by April 23.
The Academic Policy Committee will host public interviews for principal candidates from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 14, at the Kahtnuht’ana Duhdeldiht Campus, 12271 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai.
Assistance with the pre-enrollment process will also be available at that time.
